Thoughtful Thursday: Totally Tapped Out

Wow. I can't believe it's been over a week since I blogged here. Although I'm enjoying writing chapters for my Florida Keys guidebook – and blogging about travel-related things like snorkeling and fishing in the Lower Keys – the tight editorial schedule (which is way tighter than I'm used to) has ensured that I have little time for anything else, including this blog, your blogs, and my novel revision. Even though my deadline's been extended to mid-April, it's not just lack of time that's held me back... with my head so focused on the Keys, I haven't had the creative energy to focus on anything else. I mean, sheesh, I don't even have much to say about the boring, unamusing marathon that was this year's Oscars (although I'm very happy for Sandra Bullock and Kathryn Bigelow). Oh, looky, I guess I did have a little bit to say...

Anyway, sometimes, I wonder how other writers juggle blogging along with everything else. I guess we all need a break from the blogosphere once in a while, but I sure do miss all my online buddies – and can't wait to visit your blogs in a month or so. Until then, I hope everything's going swimmingly for you all!

Hang in there! Can you see the light at the end yet? Think of the celebrating you'll be doing then!

Good to hear the sharks haven't gotten you.

Sorry you're in the time suck right now... I got stuck watching the Oscars w/ the missus and absolutely hated it (and I'm not happy for SB or KB... well, I'm happy for Bullock, I guess, but she's not a good actress... she just did an accent, which along w/ uglying yourself up is female Oscar gold... as for KB, The Hurt Locker was fine, but I'll never understand the hype... sure Avatar may not have been revolutionary plot-wise, but it was revolutionary, yet the pretense of Hollywood precluded them from recognizing it or Cameron, which would be all fine and dandy if I hadn't been forced to watch. Mini-rant over ;)

Becky - Nope. No light yet. But I'm hopeful. (Doesn't help that I'm sick again - yes, again!)

Bane - Yeah, "time sucks," well, suck. I half-watched the Oscars while working on the guide - it was super-boring, and frankly, Martin and Baldwin were awful. The highlight was Neil Patrick Harris's dance number in the beginning, and it was downhill from there. As for the awards themselves, I didn't actually see THE HURT LOCKER - I was rooting for AVATAR for best picture - but I was happy to see Bigelow win for director, simply because I've liked her for years. STRANGE DAYS rocked! (And even Cameron seemed happy for her - well, he influenced her greatly, so why wouldn't he look proud?) P.S. Thanks for the rant - made me smile, as usual. ;-)

I'm glad you're busy with productive stuff, but we do miss your cheer around the blogsphere. Just to let you know your absence is conspicous, here's a little something for you over at one of my blogs...

I haven't been juggling well of late, so I'm gearing up to unplug next week. If that gets me back on track I'll take your example and extend my absence :) Luck, luck, luck with wrapping up your guide Laura!

Aw, thanks, Bridget, I miss you, too. :-( But I'll be back soon enough. In the meantime, I appreciate the award (and rest assured I'll pass it along when I can breathe again).

Well, Deb, it makes me feel a little better that I'm not the only one who needs to unplug every now and again. But I sure do miss everyone! Anyway, good luck with your break - and thanks for the luck!

Gotta do what ya gotta do girl. Lately I haven't juggled anything but blogging and day job. (Your travel guide seems like your day job to me.) Once things slow down a bit a work I'm thinking of taking two weeks off. I've got it scheduled for just before all the kids get out of school so I can also unplug from everything except revising Book One and possibly getting a couple chapters fleshed out on the fantasy.

Things rarely go as planned. But, that's the plan, at least until it sours.

Have fun in the sun.

Sometimes you have to step away in order to get anything accomplished. Good luck with the travel guide and I'll check in with ya later :)

Donna - Good luck with your writing plans! Once I'm done with this never-ending travel guide, I intend to focus on my novel, too. I can't wait!

Steph - You're so right. A break can be a good thing... just wish it wasn't such a long break from fiction/blogging. Ah, well. Thanks for checking in - hope all's well with you!
