Whimsical Wednesday: Happy St. Patty's Day!
Though I'm still hard at work on my Florida Keys guide – and gearing up for the fifth annual Beverly Hills Shorts Festival this weekend – yikes! – I just wanted to take a minute to wish you all a Happy St. Patrick's Day. If you have a minute, check out my top picks for Irish pubs in America – and join the shamrock fun over at Come In Character. In the meantime, have a wonderful holiday – and don't forget to wear a little green – or you're liable to get pinched.

Glad the FL Keys guide book is going well! Have fun at the Beverly Hills festival, and happy St. Patty's Day to you too!
Right back at you! Pretty sure I've been to Kells in Portland (Chris' uncle is Irish, and lived in PDX for a lot time). What abotu Pat O'Brian's in the French Quarter? Have fun this week-end. My mom's coming today to see us in Pendleton!!! Probably no bar-hopping for us though ;-).
Thanks, L.T.! It's good to see you!
Hey, Becky! Well, I've been to the one in San Fran, but I'm eager to see the Portland/Seattle ones... maybe when I come to visit you one of these days! And, as for Pat O's, yeah, I thought about that - but it doesn't really have an Irish pub feel - what with the piano bar, the flaming fountain in the courtyard, the giant hurricane drinks, and all the drunk tourists. But it's still a fun place, for sure!
P.S. Have fun with your mom! Hope she enjoys her stay in the north.
Hope your day was fun and unproductive - you need one or two of those.
I stopped by CIC, but didn't post anything because I was too tired work out a comment. I'll try to get back to CIC on a regular basis again. I really do miss that place.
See ya later.

Fun and unproductive, Donna? Ha! Wonder what that feels like that... Dan and I keep talking about the fact that we need a month-long vacation somewhere where cell phones and laptops are banned.
Anyhoo, thanks for stopping by CIC - and no worries about not posting. You're not the only one these days!
Take care! Sounds like you deserve a break, too. ;-)
I know a great Irish Pub in Paderborn, Germany. It's called Limericks but that's the only cliché involved with this pub.
The bloke who runs it, Gareth, is a top guy who single handedly brought Ireland to Paderborn.
The majority of the German guests speak English to the bar staff, who are all German by the way and the regulars have all picked up a soft brogue that I find so very endearing.
I live two and a half hours away so I don't get there often, however, when I am in Padders I make the effort and spend a night with Gar, Freddy and the rest of the crew.

Thanks, R.R.! If I ever make it to Germany, I'll be sure to check it out. I love going to Irish pubs in other countries - in fact, I remember a good one in Rome. Somehow, they always make me feel at home, which is a good thing in a foreign land. :-)
You're awesome Laura. You really are.

Despite my Irish heritage, I've never been in an Irish pub (you know, not being a big drinker, or bar goes) -- I guess they'll have to revoke my membership.
Aw, shucks, Donna. :-)
I'm sorry, what was that, Bane?! Sounds like you said you've NEVER been in an Irish pub before... how can that be?! I'm not Irish, and yet I love the homey vibe of a pub. Methinks you're not really Irish after all. ;-)
