Weekend Mishmash: Taking a Break

After much encouragement from my online buddies, I've decided to take a break from blogging this week. Unfortunately, it's not because I want to kick back and relax (well, I do want to, but it's just not possible). No, it's because I have a lot of work ahead for my latest travel guide – including packing up and heading to southern Florida in eight days – and I'm simply too overwhelmed to add blogging to my to-do list.

So, it's with a heavy heart that I put my blog on hold – at least until 2010 begins. Here's hoping that I have two chapters done by then.

In the meantime, I leave you with these links to my American Nomad travel blog - a three-part series about my favorite U.S. travel secrets, like how to get into The Magic Castle, where to find local music in New Orleans, and where to find diamonds in America. Hope you enjoy the trip...

Happy New Year, everyone!

Have a nice break, Laura. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get all accomplished.

Good luck with your to-do list! Have fun too! Happy New Year! I doubt I'll be blogging until 2010 either. Of course my blog entries have really tapered off lately... Don't know how you do it! Say hi to Dan!

Thanks, Susan! Hope you're having a wonderful holiday season - and Happy New Year to you.

Thanks, Becky, and Happy New Year to you, too! I'm sorry that I haven't been visiting your blog lately, but I promise to be better in the new year. In the meantime, I'll tell Dan hello - say howdy to your family (including the animals) for me!

Thanks, Deb - I appreciate it. Hope you have a wonderful New Year!

Enjoy your break, Laura. I hope you get your chapters done and have a fabulous time in Florida.

Now I'm off for a glass of wine- that picture inspired me!

Thanks, Marguerite! It's nice to know that my bloggy friends understand the struggle to find balance between writing, blogging, and living. Anyway, I appreciate the well wishes - and I'm excited to soon be posting from the Keys. In the meantime, have a happy New Year!

Thanks, Steph. I'll sure try to get everything done. In the meantime, wine doesn't sound like a bad idea. ;-) Happy New Year to you and yours!

Oh, you've got to find a trip that leads you to CO. Though, really, FL is sooo much warmer! Have fun!

Good luck with your other projects. You amaze me how you manage to keep up with so many at once! I'll be awaiting your return. Happy new year!

You're going to the Keys? Totally jealous. I'm headed to Tampa tomorrow. Dom would LOVE to go further south, but we can't swing it this time.

Enjoy your blogging break. I haven't had the time to visit blogs or blog much myself this last week. I too am thinking things will smooth out after New Years. Happy New Year BTW, and good luck on your new travel guide.

Martha - Thanks! Even though the Keys trip is technically work-related, the hubby and I aim to have a good time, too! Hope your hubby treats you super-nice as well - and, of course, Happy New Year!

Bane - Thanks! Here's hoping...

Anita - Funny you should mention CO. I found some old pictures yesterday from a long-ago trip to Silverton. Must get back to CO one of these days - it's a beautiful state. Still, after the cold winter that New Orleans has experienced, I'm looking forward to the warmth of the Keys.

Wordy - Thanks! Oh, but if only I could juggle it all - then I wouldn't have to take a break from blogging (or reading my friends' blogs - ahem). Happy New Year to you, too!

Steph - That's funny that we're both headed to Florida soon (wish I could see you there, since you'll soon be leaving MI - sniff, sniff). Hope you have a good time in Tampa - and, naturally, I hope you and Dom have a wonderful new year. Here's hoping that we'll both have more time for the blogosphere in 2010.
