Weekend Mishmash: Breaking for the Saints

Lately, I haven't had much time for anything but travel research. I'm not complaining, mind you – I've really enjoyed traversing the Florida Keys, in search of little-known eateries and experiences – but I do miss having the time for other activities, like blogging, beta-reading, and playing with my kitty.

I've been working so hard on my Florida Keys travel guide, in fact, that my parents have both expressed concern. They each believe that I need to step away from the laptop for a little while, and they each suggested that I spend the break watching my beloved New Orleans Saints take on the Minnesota Vikings – which will be happening in a matter of minutes. After all, this is a historic moment for native New Orleanians – the Saints have never gotten this close to the Superbowl before, and if Archie Manning's old team gets a chance to play Peyton Manning's current one, I can't even imagine the party that will erupt on the streets of the French Quarter.

So, perhaps I should take my parents' advice and embrace a little football break this evening. You think I should?

Go ahead! I always try to just make small goals and once I have achieved them each day what I do with the rest of my time is my choice! Maybe you should try it, just give yourself a few pages a day to complete and once you have do something fun as a reward!

Thanks, Emma! That's excellent advice. Better to make small daily goals (and then celebrate!) instead of trying to bite off more than I can reasonably chew (which is my normal M.O.).

Incidentally, I AM watching the game - and enjoying it, too. At the moment, the teams are tied, so anything's possible!

Enjoy the game. I'm not a football person, and I can't root for a team. You and Dan are New Orleans, my friend Kate is Minnesota! But do call me tonight after the game or tomorrow please! Lots of festival stuff to talk to you about (including a sponsor!)!

Thanks, Jen! It's been quite exciting - even though I'm actually working as I watch it. I'm definitely a Saints girl at heart, so the rooting is easy for me, though I do like Brett as a rule.

Anyway, I just got your phone message - sorry I missed your call earlier. It's been a hectic day, as we're packing and planning for another trip down to the Keys early tomorrow.

I'll try to call you from the road. I just have no time to chat tonight! (But sponsor news is always exciting!)

Great game, though The Saints will have to pick it up if they want to overcome Archie's boy.

Heck, yeah, Becky! It was a good game, for sure. A real nail-biter, as "they" say, and I, too, am still excited. So's Dan!

You're right, Bane - Archie's boy is the man to beat... but Drew's not too bad himself.

I was biting my nails and holdign my breath. Oh, and what you've been doing lately is "making hay while the sun shines".... ;-) Keep up the good work!

I feel ya girl! I'm in the midst of working on two guidebooks, one of which is by all Internet research and the other which is in TN and requires I go back multiple times to find backroads spots that aren't on the Internet. After awhile, it starts to wear you down, doesn't it? And thanks for the shoutout on Valerie's blog! Definitely bookmarking yours now.

Thanks, Becky! I'm sure trying to "get 'er done" as Larry the Cable Guy would say. But, as to the Saints, it's funny how involved we get in a game that we aren't even playing... Dan and I were both so keyed up watching that we just about exploded when they won!

Hiya, Kristin! I feel honored that you stopped by - as I've been following your blog for a while now. Much luck with the two travel guides. I've tackled two at the same time before, and it ain't pretty - I can guarantee that!
