Whimsical Wednesday: Wedding Anniversaries

Dan has always been more of a romantic than I. The kind of guy who gives me flowers for no reason at all, unexpectedly brings home my favorite treats (avocados and lemon poppyseed muffins among them), and never forgets an anniversary. In fact, I'm the one who occasionally has trouble remembering such things. Because I often let work overtake my sanity, it's easy for me to disregard the things that should matter most – like my wedding anniversary (which I almost forgot last year, despite Dan's reminder that he'd made a dinner reservation at Emeril's in New Orleans).

Well, this year, I was determined not to forget. And I haven't. Today is, in fact, the ninth anniversary of our intimate, little wedding at Sin City's Chapel of the Flowers. The only trouble is that we're both too sick to celebrate. Still, I won't let that stop me from saying... Happy Anniversary, Honey! I'll love you always – in sickness and in health – though I definitely prefer the health part.

Aw, sorry you are both under the weather, but a hearty "congratulations!" to both of you. You're obviously a matched pair, what with the love of fine dining and travel.

May nine happy years turn into another thirty-nine. (Because you were obviously an infant when you you tied the knot.)

Dinner at Emerils! How do you forget something like that? FUN! Your hubby sounds like a sweetie. Happy anniversary to you both. Feel better soon. :-)

Thanks, Jan. We are indeed a matched pair - we're both crazy!

I hope we have many more anniversaries ahead - though I wasn't THAT young when I got hitched. ;-)

Oh, no, Shannon. I didn't forget it - it was a wonderful dinner. What I forgot was that our anniversary just happened to coincide with the dinner reservation. For a week, Dan kept reminding me that we were going out that night - and I plumb forgot that a special occasion was involved. I felt pretty rotten about it - poor Dan deserves better. But the dinner itself was quite memorable indeed.

Happy Anniversary Laura and Dan!! So sorry you're not up to celebrating. You can always go out another night though :)

(It's my son's birthday today too, I always associate this date with the maternity ward :D )

Congratulations! I hope you both feel better soon so you can celebrate. :)

Thanks, Deb! And you're right - we do plan to celebrate as soon as we're better (which will give me more time to find a decent present - hehe). P.S. Hippo birdie to your son!

Thanks, Steph! Me, too.

Happy Anniversary. It has been freezing down south! I was super bummed when the roller coasters were closed at Universal Studios because of the wind chill :( BUT the super cool thing was that we went and saw Avatar at the on-site Imax 3D theater instead. Wow! What an experience!!!

Anyway, I hope it warms up for you and you feel better real soon!

Jennifer - Oh, he's indeed a keeper. :-) Thanks for the well wishes. Hope your 2010 is going well.

Bane - Thanks, and will do.

Steph - Thanks, girlie! It sure has been cold - what's up with this weather? I was so looking forward to warmth. Sigh.

Sorry the roller coasters were closed, but I'm delighted that you finally got to see AVATAR - and, even better, that you liked it. Yahoo!

Totally loved Avatar. I'm thinking of dragging my folks 40 miles to the closest IMAX theater--it's the only way to experience the film.

Yahoo! I'm so happy to hear it, Steph. And I love the idea of dragging others (willing or otherwise) to see the flick. I tried to lure my mom on New Year's Eve, but she backed out at the last minute. No worries - Dan and I will see it again regardless!
