Friday Fantasies: Think Cameron Needs More Money?

It hasn't taken long for James Cameron to break his own box office record. Avatar has now beaten Titanic for the top-grossing film of all time, and I couldn't be happier. Oh, wait, I could be happier – after missing our chance to see Avatar on New Year's Day – due to unforeseen circumstances like, well, hangovers – Dan and I are finally going to see it again tonight! Yahoo!

So, I guess we'll be adding our wee share to Cameron's ever-growing mountain of money. Who said perfectionism doesn't pay? (A fact I should remember the next time I rue my obsessive-compulsive tendencies.)

No longer KotW, he wanted to become Emperor of the Universe... I'd say he's probably got good reign over the solar system at least.

I loved Avatar and thus would love to see it again. Cameron holds out his hands and we keep shelling out the cash. Gosh I'm jealous.

Would you believe I haven't seen it yet? Life has just been too crazy. I'll get to it eventually, and I can't wait.

We're going Sunday before the superbowl. Yay! :-)

So, Bane, you think that's what he'll say when he wins the Oscar? "I'm Emperor of the Universe!" Makes me think of Flash Gordon, for some reason.

I'm a little jealous, too, Steph, but then again, I could never be as creative as Cameron, so I'll just bask in his success.

Susan, you haven't seen it yet?! Frankly, I'm a little shocked. It's like you're saying that life is more important than a movie. ;-)

Wow, Shannon! What a great Sunday that'll be - AVATAR and the Saints in one day! I don't think I could handle it.

My wife and I went to see it at the ciniplex a month ago but it was sold out (we saw Sherlock Holmes instead). The line ups still don't look any shorter.

I know, Alan, the lines are still ridiculous. Of course, we saw it on opening night (the midnight screening), so we expected long lines then, but seven weeks later, you'd think the buzz would've died down.

Luckily, we purchased tonight's tix in advance, so we should be good.

P.S. So, how did you like SHERLOCK HOLMES? We wanted to see that one, too, but it just hasn't happened yet.

I haven't seen Sherlock yet, but my sis said it was great and wants to see it again. She said the flick plays out just like the novels and that's what she liked most about it. I'm probably gonna check it out next weekend.

P.S.
Congrats on the Saints victory!

Still haven't seen Avatar. The three hour drive just doesn't appeal. One of my sons drove to see it twice in one week and his drive time to a theater is over five hours.. so basically my excuse is lame. :)

Wow, Deb, your son is dedicated. My half hour drive to the IMAX theater felt long ;)... And, Laura, congrats on the Saints victory. I imagine the next 2 weeks in NO are gonna be even more fun than usual.

Steph - I'll catch it one of these days... I'm so behind in my movie-watching. Stupid travel guide!

P.S. Thanks for the congrats - even though I didn't actually earn the win. ;-) But, I must admit, it's a win that the entire city feels right now. It's awesome!

Deb - Yeah, kinda lame. But I understand. Sort of. ;-)

Bane - I guess you could call Deb's son dedicated. Course, when Dan and I drive four hours to see 3-D movies in northern Michigan, that's not what my in-laws call us - ha! P.S. Re: the Saints's win, thanks, Bane! As I said to Steph, the win might have been in others' hands, but it's still resonating here today, and the Saints parade tomorrow evening is going to be a memorable event indeed!
