Monday Munchies: Popcorn!

As you probably know by now, the Big Easy International Film Festival is happening this week (Thursday to Sunday), and because the hubby and I are co-directors of this third annual event, we’ll be very busy indeed. In fact, to say we’re feeling harried right about now would be an understatement. From preparing ballots and badges to organizing films and programs to making last-minute calls to our volunteers, our to-do list is longer than my right and left arms combined.

Given such craziness, I should probably hang up my blogging hat this week – as my hubby would prefer me to do – but I can’t... seem... to pull... myself away. So, as a compromise, I’ll be offering shorter posts this week – all movie-related, of course.

For “Monday Munchies,” and in honor of the film fest, I’d like to mention my favorite movie snack. As if you couldn’t guess. I’ll give you a hint – it’s yellow and fluffy and salty and surely less fattening at home than in the theater. Yep, that’s right. Popcorn! In fact, I crave it so much that I’m beginning to think that I enjoy movie night just for the excuse it offers to stuff myself with those yummy (overpriced) kernels – preferably without gooey butter. Just the salt, ma'am. Just the salt.

So, what about you? What’s your favorite movie snack?

Popcorn and Twizzlers! We don't get to a theatre often but we eat gross amounts of popcorn for snacks at home. I like it with butter and Tabasco. Also with brewers yeast but I haven't done that for a while. Hmm..

Oh, popcorn with my salt! Uhmmm; and no butter on mine please.

Boy, you are busy. Good luck with the festival. Don't forget to post lots of pictures when it's all over.

Deb - Ooh, my hubby likes Twizzlers. I'm more of a Goober kind of girl. As for popcorn, I eat copious amounts at home - with salt and butter. But I've never tried Tabasco (!) or brewers yeast. Must give that a go.

Donna - Yeah, I'll only do the butter thing at home - movie butter is kinda sickening. Oh, and as for the pictures of the fest, you bet your sweet bippy!

Pop-corn with "Tony's" (Tony Cachere's seasoning). YUM! This blogging is addicting isn't it?!?! Thanks for getting me started... Good luck with the festival! Say hi to Dan for me!

Mmm, Becky, that sounds as good as the Tabasco corn. And, yes, the blogging is addictive indeed. I hope you don't one day despise me for encouraging you to start your own. ;-)

Thanks for the well wishes re: the fest - we'll need 'em! Oh, and Dan says howdy back!

Yeah, love me the popcorn... heck, love any movie/stadium food.

Oh, I'm with you, Bane. Nothing like a juicy hot dog and big-ass pretzel at the ballpark. :-)

Oooo, the salty sweet Kettle Korn! Good luck with the festival.

Hot Tamales and a Cherry Coke. And a little popcorn, but my husband loves that stuff so I usually only manage a bite or two.

Yum!

Thanks, Angie! Wish you could be down here with us. As for kettle corn, though, we'll simply have to agree to disagree. ;-) Try as I might, I've never liked the stuff.

That's funny, Steph. In my family, I'm the popcorn fiend, and Dan's the Hot Tamales fan. Course, I manage a few candies every now and again. ;-)
